Oakland Drops Two To Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. - Junior Kelsey Krych went 3-for-7 as the Oakland University softball team (2-4) fell twice to Presbyterian (4-0) 7-0, 5-1, Wednesday afternoon at the PC Softball Complex.

"We are a work in progress," said head coach LaDonia Hughes. "I saw some things that I liked and some things that we need to work on. I know we will continue to improve with each game."

In game one, Presbyterian used two hits and an error to score one run in the third. The Blue Hose would tack on six more over the next three innings to seal the game.

Krych, freshman Erika Polidori and freshman Alyssa Shriver had one hit each. Junior Brittany Doyle (1-2) gave up seven hits, seven runs, three earned and struck out five in six innings of work.

In the night cap, Presbyterian scored twice in the first inning. In the third inning, Polidori singled to right field with two outs. Junior Kylie Schalz hit the ball deep and it was caught five feet from the fence. The Blue Hose scored three more runs to lead 5-0 after six innings.

In the seventh inning, junior Marisa Everitt led off with a single to right field. Following two outs, senior Alyssa Deacon singled to left field to move Everitt to third. Krych singled up the middle to score Everitt.

Krych went 2-for-4 and pushed her career stolen base total to 50. Senior Alison Tansel (0-2) gave up seven hits, five runs, all earned and struck out four in five innings of work.

Oakland travels to Greenville, S.C., Feb. 24 to take on Furman. The double header is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Live Stats for all spring break games can be found at www.ougrizzlies.com
