ROCHESTER, Mich. - Sophomore Bethany Watterworth scored 17 points but the Oakland University women's basketball team (16-9, 10-4) could not overcome a hot-shooting IPFW team (17-6, 11-3) in a 70-55 Summit League loss on Saturday at The Athletics Center O'rena. It is the first time the Golden Grizzlies have lost to the Mastodons on their home floor and is the team's first loss in regulation at home this season.

"I give them a lot of credit," said Oakland head coach Beckie Francis. "We're a great defensive team, but today we just couldn't get stops and they shot a great percentage from the floor."

Oakland had two players in double-digits, with junior Sharise Calhoun scoring 12 points to join Watterworth. Freshman Zakiya Minifee also added eight points and eight rebounds for OU, which shot 34.5 percent from the field.

The Mastodons shot 54 percent from the field and were led by Jordan Zuppe's 23-point effort. Zuppe was 7-for-9 from the field and hit six 3-pointers to lead the Mastodons who went 8-for-17 from beyond the arc. Stephanie Rosado added 19 points and had a game-high nine rebounds. IPFW had four players in double-digits including Chelsey Jackson who scored 12 and Erin Murphy with 10.

IPFW shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and connected on five 3-pointers to take a 32-22 lead. Zuppe led the visitors with 14 first-half points, while Rosado added 10. All of Oakland's first-half scoring came from the starting five as Calhoun, Watterworth and Minifee each had six.

Oakland has two home games remaining this season. The Golden Grizzlies host South Dakota State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
