ROCHESTER, Mich. - Zakiyas Minifee recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to help lead the Oakland women's basketball team (4-4) to a 63-51victory over Clemson (3-5) on Friday at the Athletics Center O'rena. Bethany Watterworth added a game-high 21 points as the Golden Grizzlies beat an ACC opponent for the third consecutive time.

"I thought that our players played tough and that we shot the ball better," said Oakland head coach Beckie Francis. "It's also our third straight win over an ACC opponent, so I am pretty proud of our mid-major program that we are building here."

Watterworth scored 16 of her 21 points in the second half, as OU shot 46.2 percent from the field after the intermission and pushed its lead to as much as 15 points. The Oakland defense held Clemson to just 25 percent shooting in the second half and 30.5 percent for the game.

Brittany Carnago added a season-high six blocks as she moved into second place in Oakland history with 209 career blocks. The Golden Grizzlies also dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Lady Tigers 45-32 with 13 offensive boards for 11 second-chance points.

OU led 32-25 in the first half, behind 11 points from Minifee who finished with a season-high in scoring. The Golden Grizzlies shot 41.4 percent from the field and knocked down five 3-pointers as both Minifee and Liz Hamlet knocked down a pair of shots from beyond the arc.

Nikki Dixon paced Clemson with 13 points. She was the only player in double-figures for the Lady Tigers.

The win marked the 700th program win for Oakland women's basketball. The squad is 700-351 all-time.

Oakland is back in action on Sunday, welcoming Illinois-Chicago to the O'rena for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
