ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland softball team closed out their fall season on a high note as they finished undefeated taking on Macomb Community College, Jackson Community College, Mott Community College and Oakland Community College in eight games during their fall schedule.
"Overall, I thought that we had a very successful fall season," said head softball coach LaDonia Hughes. "We do have some things that we will need to work on in the winter but this was a good fall season and looks to be a very promising spring."
Megan McQueen led the Golden Grizzlies offense hitting .588 with 11 RBIs in seven games while slugging a team high .824. McQueen had two games where she racked up three RBIs and hit the team's only home run against Macomb CC.
Jackie Kisman hit .571 over the fall season and tied for the team lead with 10 runs scored with Kelsey Krych. Krych also stole a team-high nine bases to go along with a batting average of .417.
The Oakland pitching staff dominated over the fall combining to give up only six total runs, four of them earned. Brittany Doyle led the team with a 4-0 record and a perfect 0.00 ERA over 19.0 innings. Katie Moy led the team with 21 strikeouts and went 3-0 giving up only eight hits in 17.0 innings. Bailee Braunreuther earned the final win giving up no earned runs and allowed only three hits against Macomb CC.
The Golden Grizzlies will begin the spring season on Feb. 19 as they take on Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. starting at 2 p.m.
