MOREHEAD, Ky. - Sophomore Kylie Schalz went two-for-two with a walk as the Oakland University softball team (4-13) fell 4-2 to Pittsburgh (4-7) at the Morehead State Tournament, Saturday afternoon.
Pittsburgh drew first blood by scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning. In the second inning, with one out, Schalz drew a walk and was replaced on the bases by senior Erica Lozon. Following a strikeout, senior Ashley Sullivan crushed a double to right center field to score Lozon.
The Panthers would score one run each in the fourth and fifth innings to go up 3-1. In the sixth inning, with two outs, senior Haley Emerson drew a walk and was replaced on the bases by senior Anne Cicchini. Sophomore Leah DiCristofaro took a walk and was replaced by senior Angela Cicchini.
Schalz stepped up and singled through the left side to score Anne Cicchini and make it 3-2. Pittsburgh would score in the bottom of the sixth and got OU to go 1-2-3 in the seventh to end the game.
Sophomore Brittany Doyle (3-7) gave up nine hits, four runs, three earned, walked three batters and struck out four batters in going the distance.
Oakland will have two games Sunday afternoon in Morehead. The Golden Grizzles will play IPFW at 9:00 a.m. and Georgetown at 10:45 a.m.
