CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Senior Katie Dreyer went 2-for-2 with a double and home run as the Oakland University softball team (4-12) lost 3-2 to Central Connecticut State (1-4), Sunday morning at the Frost Classic.
"Again, we had one inning that cost us," said head coach Glenn MacDonald. "Brittany Doyle threw a great game for us. We had four extra base hits out of eight, which is good. We just had one inning where physical and metal mistakes cost us."
In the top of the second, freshman Erin Galloway reached first on a fielder's choice. Senior Kylie Schalz ripped a 0-2 pitch into right field for a triple to score Galloway.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Central Connecticut State scored three runs to take the lead, 3-1. In the top of the sixth, senior Katie Dreyer hit a solo shot over the right field fence, closing the gap to 3-2.
Sophomore Kelsey Krych went two-for-four. Sophomore Brittany Doyle (3-5) gave up two hits, three runs, none of them earned and struck out six batters.
