CLINTON, S.C. - Senior Katie Dreyer hit the first home run of the season as the Oakland University softball team (3-6) fell 3-2 and 8-0 to Presbyterian College, Wednesday afternoon.
In game 1, with one out, Dreyer blasted the ball over the left field fence. It was the first home run of the season for the Golden Grizzlies.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, with one out, Rachel Parker singled through the left. Tracy Staten then hit a two-run shot to make it 2-1.
In the fifth inning, sophomore Kylie Schalz drew a walk and was replaced on the bases by senior Angela Cicchini. Cicchini stole second and sophomore Kelsey Krych singled to third base.
Freshman Erin Galloway singled down the right field line to score Cicchini and tie the game at 2-2. PC scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to get the win.
Junior Marissa Everitt (0-1) gave up five hits, three runs, two earned, walked two and struck out seven batters in six innings.
In game 2, freshman Alivia Nikolaus went one-for-two. Sophomore Brittany Doyle (2-3) gave up seven hits, eight runs, none of them earned, walked two and struck out two batters.
Oakland will take on Furman, Thursday, Feb. 25 in a doubleheader. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
