INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Melissa Jeltema notched her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and a season-high 13 rebounds and the Golden Grizzlies held the Jags to just two points in the first 10 minutes of the second half as the Oakland University women's basketball team (11-11, 8-3 Summit League) flew past IUPUI (2-19, 1-10 Summit League) 74-55 Monday evening at The Jungle.

"I am so happy we were able to get two road wins back-to-back, especially with two weekends in a row that we have been on the road," said head coach Beckie Francis. "I am very proud of their focus and toughness."

The Golden Grizzlies gained control of the game early, jumping out to a 16-9 lead with 14:37 to play. But the Jags continued to fight and at 10:26 cut the lead to 21-17. But the Black and Gold never relinquished their lead and found themselves up by as many as 13 points with 1:18 to play in the half, but Farren Stackhouse drained a 3-pointer with eight seconds left, cutting the OU lead to 39-29 at the half.

Oakland continued to build on that lead in the second half, going on a 14-0 run in the opening five minutes, capped off by five straight points by sophomore Sharise Calhoun, to put the Golden Grizzlies up 53-29 with 15:56 to play.

The Golden Grizzlies held the Jags to just two points in the first 10 minutes of the second half and would lead by as many as 32 points off of 50 percent shooting before coming away with the 74-55 victory.

Besides Jeltema, two other Golden Grizzlies finished the night in double figures with Calhoun registering 15 points and freshman Bethany Watterworth with 11. Senior Hanna Reising and freshman Victoria Lipscomb tied respective season and career-highs with two 3-pointers apiece.

Oakland out-rebounded the Jags 42-35 but committed more turnovers with 15 compared to IUPUI's 11. OU shot 54 percent from the floor while IUPUI shot 28 percent. The Black and Gold also had a strong presence inside, putting up 30 points in the paint.

The Golden Grizzlies will return to the friendly confines of the O'Rena just in time for Homecoming on Saturday, Feb. 6 when they take on Oral Roberts at 3:30 p.m. The game can be followed via Gametracker at www.ougrizzlies.com.
