Box Score
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Sophomore Mitch Hildebrandt made five saves and senior Stefan St. Louis led the offensive attack with three shots, but it wasn't enough as the Oakland University men's soccer team (2-3-1) fell to Wisconsin (2-2-1) by a 1-0 decision Friday evening at the Panther Invitational at Englemann Field.
The Golden Grizzlies held the Badgers to a scoreless first half and had several opportunities to get on the board, with close calls from freshman Johnny Dreshaj, sophomore Winston Henderson and sophomore Daiki Mori. None were able to connect with the back of net, however, so the match went into a 0-0 stalemate at the end of the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Wisconsin got on the board at 68:42 when Brandon Miller beat the goalkeeper one-on-one and buried the shot to bring the contest to a 1-0 score.
Oakland had two strong chances to even the game up from St. Louis and junior Makesi Lewis, but weren't able to get the ball past Wisconsin goalkeeper Alex Horwath, thus bringing the match to its 1-0 score.
The Badgers held slight advantages in shots and shots on goal, 14-11 and 6-5, respectively, while OU edged out Wisconsin on corner kicks, 5-4.
The Golden Grizzlies will look to get back in the win column when they take on tournament host Milwaukee on Sunday, Sept. 20. The match is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start and can be followed on Gametracker at www.ougrizzlies.com.
