BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Freshman Michael Coriasso shot 75 (+4), and sophomore Vince Carango posted a score of 76 (+5), to lead the Oakland University men's golf team to a 13th-place finish (307-297-306/910) in the adidas Hoosier Invitational on Easter Sunday at the IU Championship Golf Course (Par 71, 6,813 yards).
The sixth-ranked Indiana Hoosiers won its own tournament with a 13-under par score of 839. Eastern Kentucky finished second with an overall score of 866 (+14). The Golden Grizzlies finished ahead of in-state rival Detroit by four shots.
Coriasso finished with a three-day total score of 221 (+8) and in a tie for 23rd place. Sophomore Travis Peitz was the second highest finisher for the Grizzlies, tallying a final round of 77 to finish in a tie for 40th place with a total score of 14-over par (227). Carango finished in a tie for 50th place for OU with a total score of 230 (+17), while sophomore Sam LaMantia improved eight shots from his second round to third with a 78.
The Golden Grizzlies will compete in the Detroit Titans Invitational April 17-18 in Plymouth, Mich.
