PONTIAC, Mich. - Sophomore Deanna Colarossi and freshman Brittany Brown each scored two goals, while sophomore Shannon Coley and freshman Whitney Sarkis combined to make six saves in a shutout, to lead the Oakland University women's soccer team (4-5-0, 1-0 Summit) to a school record tying 8-0 victory over UMKC (0-10-1, 0-1 Summit) on Friday night at the Ultimate Soccer Arena.

"I'm very pleased with the win," said head coach Nick O'Shea. "Obviously, league play is very important for us. We had been talking about this game for awhile. The girls came in with the right attitude and got the job done."

Colarossi added an assist to finish the evening with a total of five points. Junior Dani Haelewyn, freshman Leanne Fomenko, senior Jennifer Curtis and sophomore Sarah Lynch all added goals for the Golden Grizzlies.

OU outshot the Kangaroos 43-9 in the match.

The Golden Grizzlies wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Colarossi took a pass in the middle from senior Kirsten Stencel and buried it into the back of the net just under four minutes into the game. Haelewyn would score at the 28:22 minute mark off a feed from Colarossi to make the score 2-0.

The Grizzlies would notch a pair of goals within two minutes of each other as Fomenko received a pass from Curtis in the box and scored at 36:33 and Curtis then recorded an unassisted goal at 37:25 as Oakland would take a 4-0 into halftime.

Colarossi started the second half as she did the first with an early goal, this time just over four minutes, on a shot from 15-yards out on a pass from sophomore Shannon Doyle as the lead grew to 5-0. Lynch would then tally the sixth goal of the game at the 52 minute mark unassisted.

Brown ended the scoring for OU with a pair of goals, the second coming at the 89 minute mark after freshman Katie Bramble fed freshman Kristen Steffes and she hit the cross bar, Brown got the rebound and drilled it home to give the Golden Grizzlies an 8-0 lead.

Oakland had seven corner kicks and six fouls and three offsides, while UMKC had one corner kick, 11 saves, four fouls and one offside.

OU will host Southern Utah this Sunday at 1 p.m. on the OU Soccer Field. The game can be followed via live stats on www.ougrizzlies.com.
