STATESBORO, Ga. ???C Junior Roberta Ches finished 2-for-5 to lead the Oakland University softball team (0-4) on day two of the GSU Eagle Classic as the Golden Grizzlies dropped games to Jacksonville University (7-10), 3-0, and Minnesota (9-5), 3-0, on Sunday at Eagle Field. OU???s Jessica Granger (0-3) tossed 7.0 innings against the Golden Gophers, allowing six hits, three earned runs and fanned five.

The Golden Grizzlies once again surrendered a big inning against the Gophers. Minnesota scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, on a fly ball to right field with two outs and the bases loaded, in which the Grizzly right fielder tripped over her feet and fell, allowing the ball to drop and plate three runs.

That lead was all Minnesota???s pitcher Katie Dalen would need, tossing a one-hit complete game shutout, striking out 12 Grizzly batters. Heidi Carls led the way offensively, going 2-for-3, with three runs batted in.

Against Jacksonville, the Grizzlies fell behind in the bottom of the second inning as McKeon singled to left field with two outs. The Dolphins tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on RBI singles by Glasscock and Abraham as the lead grew to three runs.

That is all the support JU???s Samuels would need, going the distance, allowing just four hits, one walk and struck out six.

Granger took the loss against JU, working all six innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs and fanned four. Ches finished 2-for-3, while junior Caitlin Lynch added a base hit for the Golden Grizzlies.

The Golden Grizzlies will travel to Clinton, S.C., for a doubleheader versus Presbyterian College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
