ROCHESTER, Mich. - Junior Melissa Jeltema turned in a 17-point performance, junior Hanna Reising added 11, while sophomores Anna Patritto and Brittany Carnago both scored 10 points as the Oakland University women's basketball team (9-4) picked up an 88-23 win over Rochester College in its final non-league contest.

"I was really happy with the intensity for 40 minutes and it was every single player," said head coach Beckie Francis. "In case people are wondering, Jessica Pike rolled her ankle in shootaround today and that's why she wasn't playing today. She'll be okay for the weekend. Other people just came in and stepped up and it was just really fun."

During the contest, several Golden Grizzlies tied set new career highs with their performances. Sophomore Courtney Walters set a new career high with four rebounds and four free throws made, Jeltema tied her previous career-high with four steals, Patritto set a new career high with three blocks, sophomore Kirstie Malone tied her career best with eight points, while freshman Kira Carter set new career bests with four points, five rebounds, and five assists.

The two teams traded buckets in the opening minute, and from there it was off to the races for the Golden Grizzlies, who quickly went on a 13-0 run to push the score to 15-2. The Golden Grizzlies pushed their lead to 27 (41-14) at the half.

It was more of the same for the Golden Grizzlies in the second half, as OU used a 17-0 run in the opening minutes of the half to push their lead to 71-19. OU's defense held the Warriors without a field goal for nearly eight minutes.

OU's biggest lead of the night was in the final margin, a 65-point lead that was set at the one minute mark as junior Aubrey Freshour split a pair of free throws.

Every Oakland player that dressed played at least 14 minutes. The Golden Grizzlies held a 47-19 advantage on the rebounding glass, while forcing 23 turnovers and only committing nine. OU placed four players in double figures, while only three players scored for Rochester College. The Warriors were led by Elizabeth Stockwell with 12 points and four rebounds.

The Golden Grizzlies will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, as they return to Summit League play against North Dakota State. Tip from the O'Rena is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
