Video Press Conference for Coach Kampe

OAKLAND 66, EASTERN MICHIGAN 53
CONVOCATION CENTER
YPSILANTI, MICH.

OAKLAND HEAD COACH Greg Kampe

On the game
"They've (Eastern Michigan) only played three games at home, won two of them, lost to a very, very good Atlantic 10 team (St. Bonaventure) by like six points, so their record is deceiving. They're struggling and not a team that is going to win a championship, but they're young, lost their best player (Carlos Medlock) like we did (Derick) Nelson, so it's a great win for us."

"We reached a goal tonight. We had a goal to have a winning non-league record this year, and with this win, we've reached one of our 12 goals. Another one of our goals was to have a 2.80 team grade point average with all this travel, and we got the grades yesterday and we came in at 2.85. I was extremely happy about that. So we have taken two goals off our 12.

"This could have been a real struggle for us. We were coming off the Michigan game, and at Green Bay, 48 hours later we played in the Palace, a lot of excitement and we played great, Michigan played great, and we have to play in front of 200 people tonight. And we got out of it in an ugly fashion, but we played good defense and got out of here with a win."

On Blake Cushingberry's performance
"0-for-7 and 0-for-4 from three, but I have to have him out there. That's a freshman and says something about him. He's going to be a great shooter. You know (Erik) Kangas shot 28 percent from the field as a freshman and 23 percent from three, and Kangas isn't too bad of a shooter."
