DETROIT - Sophomore Makesi Lewis tallied a goal and an assist, and senior Steve Clark recorded his ninth shutout of the season with three saves, to lead the Oakland University men's soccer team (11-4) to a 3-0 shutout victory over Detroit (4-10-1) on Tuesday at UDM Soccer Field. The Golden Grizzlies are now on a four-match winning streak.
Lewis scored the game-winning goal at the 28:29 minute mark after getting the ball out of a scrum to put the Grizzles on top 1-0. Junior Stefan St. Louis scored his third goal in two games in the 38th minute after getting a two-way pass from Lewis and junior Wade Allan as the lead grew to 2-0 after 45 minutes of play.
The final tally was scored by senior Piotr Nowak, assisted by Allan, in the 80th minute to secure the win for the Golden Grizzlies. Oakland out-shot the Titans 16-9 in the game, and each team had four corner kicks.
OU will host SIU-Edwardsville for Senior Night at the Ultimate Soccer Arena on Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and can be followed via live stats on www.ougrizzlies.com.
