ROCHESTER, Mich. - Freshman Sarah Lynch tallied her second goal of the season on a feed from Lindsey Blair, and the Oakland University women's soccer team (3-8-2, 2-1 Summit League) held a 17-8 advantage in shots, but it was not enough as IUPUI (7-5, 3-1 Summit League) came back with three unanswered goals, two in the second half, to take a 3-1 victory over the Golden Grizzlies on Friday on the OU Soccer Field.
After Lynch's strike in the 35th minute gave OU a 1-0 lead, the Jaguars tallied goals in the 36th minute by Leslie Walker to tie the game, and then scored on breakaways in the 61st minute by Alicia Brock and in the 69th minute by Megan Hock.
"We didn't mark on a set play, a ball bounces over our head that should never bounce over our head, and we tried to step in front of a player and got caught in a two-on-one," said head coach Nick O'Shea. "You can't make decisions like that. Bad decisions like that are going to cost you every time and that's what happens, and it's too hard to come back."
OU tallied three corner kicks to IUPUI's two, but Jaguar keeper Jamie Farrell made five saves in the OU loss.
"We have to try and get some rest, and see if we will come out with determination to try and win," said O'Shea. "If you make bad mistakes and don't work hard, you'll never win that way."
The Golden Grizzlies will return to action Sunday as they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face IPFW. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
