(Apr. 24, 2007) ???C On the final day of the Mid-Continent Conference men???s golf championships the Oakland squad could not improve on its first day finish and wound up sixth in the final standings after shooting a round of 305 today. Senior Chad Elliott (Rochester, Mich.) had the best individual finish for the Golden Grizzlies, earning second team All-Mid-Con honors after tying for ninth in the final standings. Oakland finished the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 912 (304-303-305). Western Illinois won the team title with a score of 863. Elliott finished with a round of 75 today to give him a total of 219 (73-71-75) and a share of ninth-place, 11 shots behind the leader. His All-Mid-Con award was the first of his career. Coming up with the best score of the day for the Golden Grizzlies was another senior, Charles Kluesner (Terre Haute, Ind.) who fired a 74. It was his best round of the tournament and gave him a total of 231 (79-78-74) and a share of 24th-place. Tied with his teammate at 231 (76-76-79) was freshman Frank McAuliffe (Ann Arbor, Mich.) after his final effort of a 79. Also shooting a 79 today was Nate Hendricks (Carlisle, Ontario). His final round gave him a 54-hole score of 234 (77-78-79) and a tie for 27th in the individual standings. Rob Reynolds (Waterford, Mich.) also had his best round of the competition today, a 77 that gave him a total score of 243 (78-88-77) and a 30th-place finish overall.
