Notes Rochester, Mich. (Nov. 28, 2006) - Oakland's women's basketball team will play its fifth consecutive road game tomorrow evening when it travels to Bowling Green to face the Falcons at Anderson Arena at 7:00 p.m.
Almost Home Oakland concludes its five-game road swing tonight, making the two-hour drive south to face the Bowling Green Falcons. OU has compiled a 1-3 record on the extended road trip thus far, falling to UW-Green Bay and Florida State before upsetting Eastern Michigan at the Convocation Center. Alas, the Golden Grizzlies were unable to harness the momentum, falling at Central Michigan last Sunday. After Bowling Green, OU returns home for three straight, opening the home stand by hosting Rochester College Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Scouting the Falcons Bowling Green has compiled a 4-1 record thus far, with its only blemish coming at the hands of Notre Dame 85-81 (OT) in the second game of the season. BGSU has rebounded with wins in three straight against the likes of Albany (76-40) and Fairleigh Dickinson (87-56) in the UCF Tournament in Orlando, Fla., and winning its home opener over Temple 86-67. The Falcons have four players averaging doule digits in scoring, led by Ali Mann???s 16.8 points per game. Kate Achter (11.8), Carin Horne (11.0) and Liz Honegger (10.6) round out the top four. Achter is shooting .767 from the line (23-30) while Honegger shoots .571 from beyond the arc (12-21). Amber Flynn leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.0 per game.
The Series Oakland is 1-2 in the all-time series with Bowling Green since joining Division I. The road team has been the victor in each of the three games, with BGSU coming to the O???Rena last season and taking home a 72-59 victory. Liz Honegger recorded a double-double to lead the Falcons to victory, scoring 19 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.

Last Time Out The Golden Grizzlies dropped a 69-57 decision to the Central Michigan Chippewas at Mount Pleasant last Sunday. Although up by as much as nine points midway through the second half, OU was unable to hold on and pull out the win.
Nicole Piggott was the only Oakland player in double digits as she scored 24 points to lead all players. She also grabbed six rebounds and made 3-3 free throws to remain perfect from the line this season.
MAC Attack OU is in the midst of a three-game set against Mid-American Conference teams, all road games for the Golden Grizzlies. Oakland opened the threesome with a dramatic come-from-behind victory at Eastern Michigan, defeating the Eagles 68-62. The next time out OU was no so fortunate, falling to Central Michigan 69-57. OU concludes the MAC triple slate at Bowling Green tonight.
Pike???s Career Night, Part 2 Sophomore
Jessica Pike posted a career high for the second time in four games this young season when she netted 23 points at Eastern Michigan Nov. 22. The 23-point effort surpassed the 19 points she scored against Marygrove in the season opener. Pike also made six free throws to surpass her previous mark of five.
Reising Star Freshman
Hanna Reising was named the Mid-Con Player of the Week Nov. 21 for her performance in a pair of road games. Reising posted a pair of 20+ point performances, scoring 25 to lead all players in a 90-68 loss at UW-Green Bay Nov. 15 and following that with 23 in a 74-69 loss at Florida State Nov. 19. She nailed seven shots from three-point range to account for 21 of her 23 points against the Seminoles.
Set ???Em Up Sophomore
Jessica Pike compiled a career high seven assists at Florida State Nov. 19, marking the third time this season she???s topped a personal best. In OU???s season opener against Marygrove she tallied a career-best 19 points on nine field goals, also a career high.
Bad Moon Reising Freshman
Hanna Reising has made an immediate impact upon joining the Golden Grizzlies this season, putting up big numbers and entrenching herself among the team???s and league???s statistical leaders. She is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.2 points, while leading OU in 3-pt. shooting (14-21, .667). The Peoria, Ill. native also leads the Mid-Con in several categories, incluing field goal percentage (.650), 3-pt. field goal percentage (.667) and 3-pt. field goals made (2.80). Additionally, she ranks fifth in scoring (14.2), seventh in steals (1.75) and is tied for 11th in offensive rebounds (1.60). Reising had two consecutive 20+ point games with 23 points at Florida State Nov. 19 and 25 at UW-Green Bay Nov. 15. Her 25-point total at Green Bay remains the highest single-game output by a Golden Grizzly to date.
Piggott Records 1,000th Career Point Senior
Nicole Piggott hit a jumper late in the second half at UW-Green Bay for her 1,000th career point. She became the 20th player in Oakland history to surpass 1,000 points. Piggott has accumulated 1,058 points in 88 career games to date.
Pike???s Career Night Sophomore
Jessica Pike scored a career high 19 points against Marygrove in Oakland???s season opener to lead all players. She also sank a career-best nine field goals en route to 19.
Falling By the Wayside In addition to Pike???s career night, several other Golden Grizzlies posted big numbers; in fact every returning player that saw time against the Mustangs set or tied personal bests. Senior
