(Mar. 8, 2005) ???C Oakland University???s men???s golf team opened up its spring season with a trip to Florida and despite some rough weather conditions, the team brought back a fourth-place showing at the rain-shortened Treasure Coast WTC Hero???s Classic. The Golden Grizzlies finished fourth in the 10-team field with a score of 327. Senior
Brian Stuard (Jackson, Mich.) finished in a tie for second to lead the team with his score of 76 (+4). Sophomore
Chad Elliott (Rochester, Mich.) also posted a top-20 finish for Oakland, tying for 16th overall with his score of 82.
Jonathan Pauli (St. John???s, Mich.) and
Matt Pullen (Grand Rapids, Mich.) were right behind for the Golden Grizzlies, carding scores of 84 and 85 to finish tied for 24th and 28th in the individual standings. Rounding out the team score for Oakland was
Rob Reynolds (Waterford, Mich.) who turned in an 87 to tie for 32nd. Playing as an individual, sophomore
Charlie Kluesner (Terre Haute, Ind.) also broke 80 in the poor conditions for Oakland, carding a 79 that put him in a tie for seventh overall. Three other OU players also played as individuals in what turned out to be a one-round event.
Jack Nacy (Oxford, Mich.) came in with an 88 to tie for 36th, with
Rob Tate (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and
Ryan Schultheiss (Bay City, Mich.) finishing the day with scores of 92 and 97.
