Rawle Marshall (Detroit, Mich.) and
Cortney Scott (Lansing, Mich.) of Oakland???s men???s basketball team have been selected to the Mid-Continent Conference???s all-conference teams the league announced today. Marshall, the league???s second-leading scorer, was a first team selection in voting conducted among the league coaches, SIDs and media members. Scott was named to the second team. It is the third appearance on an All-Mid-Con team for Marshall and the second for Scott. A four-time Mid-Con Player of the Week this season, Marshall has been on a tear since the beginning of Mid-Con play in January to earn his first, first team selection and has scored at least 23 points in each of the last seven games. He leads the team in scoring with his 19.7 average, a mark that is second in the league and currently 29th in the nation. In conference games he has upped his numbers to 22.2 points and 8.2 rebounds a game. He also leads the team in steals and blocks, breaking the school career mark for blocked shots earlier this season. At 1,566 points Marshall is currently 12th on OU???s all-time scoring list and will finish his career on the top-10 lists in blocks, steals and free throws as well. Scott, who has started every game in his OU career, has made his mark for the Golden Grizzlies as one of the school???s top rebounders, currently sitting 10th on the all-time list with 638 career boards. This season he has upped his scoring numbers to team with Marshall as one of the top-scoring duos in the conference. Averaging 18.2 points per game, he also upped his production in Mid-Con play with a 20.1 average. For a third straight year he is leading the team in rebounding with a 7.5 average and is among the Mid-Con leaders in shooting percentage and steals. One of the top shooters in the league with his 54.7 mark, his shooting eye also has him ranked among the national leaders at No. 49. He also joins Marshall in the Oakland 1,000-point club with 1,195 Oakland will open play in the Mid-Con Tournament on Saturday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time when the No. 7 seed Golden Grizzlies will take on No. 2 seeded UMKC in the John Q. Hammons Arena in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
