(Sept. 7, 2004) ???C After starting the day in a tie for second-place, Oakland???s women???s golf team slipped a bit in the final standings today, but the Golden Grizzlies still had a respectable fourth-place showing in a 17-team field at the Laker Fall Classic hosted by Grand Valley State. Oakland finished today???s round with a 323 for a two-round total of 644 (321-323) that was five strokes back of Southern Indiana for third. Grand Valley State won the tournament with a total score of 632. The Golden Grizzlies were led by junior Patricia Ellsworth (Leamington, Ontario) who had the team???s top score on day two, a 75 that gave her a total of 156 (81-75) and tying her for fifth-place overall. Overall OU had four players finish in the top-20 in the 107-player field. Stacey Goins (Rochester Hills, Mich.), who had a one-stroke lead entering the second day, fell to a tie for 10th overall after her round of 84 today, giving her a total score of 160 (76-84). Leigh Gulbransen (Tecumseh, Ontario) bettered her first-round score by one, carding an 81 today to give her a 163 (81-81) and a tie for 17th overall. Two shots behind her was Christina Cibrario (Milford, Mich.) who fired a second-round 83 for a two-day total of 165 (82-83), good for a tie for 20th overall. Katie O???Donnell (Troy, Mich.) and Alicia Zuckerman (Ann Arbor, Mich.) rounded out the team score for Oakland, with O???Donnell finishing with a 185 (93-92) and a tie for 68th, while Zuckerman came in with a total of 194 (97-97), good for a tie for 86th overall. Playing as an individual, Erica Novack (Westland, Mich.) finished 93rd overall with a 200 (95-105). Oakland???s next outing in the fall will be on Sept. 12 and 13 when the team will play at the Ball State Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Indiana.
