Oakland Hires Dave Schmidlin As Head Volleyball Coach

Rochester, Mich. - Oakland University's athletic department announced the hiring of Dave Schmidlin as head volleyball coach for the Golden Grizzlies on Tuesday. Schmidlin comes to Oakland with more than ten years of experience coaching volleyball at the collegiate level. Currently, Schmidlin is the Oakland County Regional Training Coordinator for USA Michigan Volleyball. He served as the full-time first assistant men's coach at IPFW in 2002 and was the part-time head women's volleyball coach at the University of St. Francis from 2000-01. He had his career start in college coaching at IPFW where he was the assistant men's volleyball coach from 1993-2000. Schmidlin has great experience in coaching volleyball not only at the collegiate level but also with the USA volleyball Olympic development program, high school volleyball, and club volleyball, where he was the former assistant club coach for Michigan State. He is also a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association as well as USA Volleyball. Schmidlin holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University and resides in Rochester, Michigan.
