Bates Named #HLVB Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Senior defensive specialist/libero Lyse Bates was tabbed one of two Horizon League Players of the Week the league announced on Monday.

The Portage, Mich. native has been a starting libero for the Black and Gold through all 17 matches this season and leads Oakland from the back row 237 total digs, averaging 3.76/set.

Over the week, Oakland posted a 3-0 record to move 3-2 in Horizon League action, with the assist of Bates' 6.00 digs/set and 78 total digs through 13 sets. She eclipsed 40 receptions for a .950 serve-receive rate through all three matches and earned a career-high 28 digs in the Golden Grizzlies' five-set win over Robert Morris on Sunday. Bates currently leads the Horizon League with 103 digs in conference matches, averaging 5.42 digs/set among #HLVB players.

Oakland heads back to Rochester to host Purdue Fort Wayne inside the OU Credit Union O'rena Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11. First serve on Friday is set for 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
