Rochester, Mich. (Oct. 5, 2003) ???C Oakland???s men???s golf team continued its strong fall play today at its own Golden Grizzly Invitational, as OU???s two teams claimed the top two spots after the first round of play at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course on the Oakland campus. Led by Robert Reynolds (Waterford, Mich.) five under par 67, the Golden Grizzlies placed six individuals in the top-10 after day one. It was Oakland???s ???B??? team that had the best day, shooting a 290, with Oakland???s ???A??? squad just three shots behind that at 293. The next closest team was Robert Morris which finished the first day with a 302. Two other Oakland golfers finished under par in the first round, placing second and third behind Reynolds in the individual standings. Ryan Yelen (Grand Blanc, Mich.) fired a two-under 70, while James Boose (Ancaster, Ont.) had a 71 in his first collegiate appearance for the Golden Grizzlies.
