The Oakland University men's soccer team shutout the University of New Mexico, 1-0 Sunday, September 23, in Evansville, Indiana. With the win the Grizzlies finished 1-1 in the Pro Rehab Soccer Classic. The Golden Grizzlies improve to 2-2-1, while the Lobos drop to 2-2-1. The Grizzlies and Lobos played to a scoreless first as OU had seven shots, while UNM had four shots in the hot Indiana weather, 84 degrees. Anders Vollen were given credit on the assist. OU's senior netminder recorded one save in the shutout. OU had 11 shot, no corner kicks, one goalkeeper save and 14 fouls, while the Lobos had five shots, three corner kicks, three goalkeeper saves and five fouls. "I think we played well," said head coach Gary Parsons. "We are a young team and goals are hard to come by, but we are playing well as a unit, especially on defense." Oakland will come home to face IPFW on Friday, September 28, at the OU Soccer Field. Game time is 4 p.m.
