Gary Robinson (Jackson), the Golden Grizzly men's golf team finished third out of seven teams at the Mid-Continent Conference Championship in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Tuesday. Robinson was the individual runner-up behind ORU's Charleton Dechert. The Golden Grizzlies recorded a three-round 928 (310-309-309) to finish behind Oral Roberts (313-299-306--918) and IUPUI (314-318-302--924) and in front of UMKC, Youngstown State, Southern Utah and Western Illinois. Robinson (72-76-78--226) finished second 12 strokes behind individual champion Dechert (71-72-71--214). Sophomore
Justin Sokol (Bloomfield Hills) followed for the Golden Grizzlies as he finished in a tie for 12th place after shooting 80-75-79--234. Junior
Kevin Harris (Troy) finished 16th (79-78-78--235), while sophomores
Chris King (Walled Lake) and
Allen Mitchell (Clio) claimed 18th and 22nd, respectively. King shot 79-80-77-236 and Mitchell recorded 84-80-76--240. Oakland complted the 2000-01 season with the Mid-Continent Conference Championship.
