The Oakland University softball team was swept at Central Michigan University, 2-0, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Grizzlies fall to 6-12 overall this season. In game one, CMU's freshman Amber Puchalski threw a no-hitter as she claimed the 2-0 victory for the Chippewas. Oakland freshman Jaymie Voss went the distance and falls to 1-7 this season. She threw 6.0 innings, gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked one and struck out two. Puchalski walked one and struck out 13 batters en route her 7-6 record. In the second game, the game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the Golden Grizzlies scored a run to take a 1-0 lead on a Lauren Seffens RBI single. The Chippewas responded with four runs in their half of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. The squads traded runs in the sixth inning to make the final score 5-2. Leading the way offensively for the Golden Grizzlies was Seffens going 3-3 with two RBI and a double. Voss, Bobbie Bieszki, Ericka Burns, Keri Sedgley and Megan Piar all recorded one hit apiece in the nightcap. Sophomore Julie Anderson picked up the loss for Oakland throwing 5.0 innings, giving up five hits, four earned runs, walking one and striking out one. Anderson falls to 3-5 this season. The Oakland softball team will be in action again this weekend as the Golden Grizzlies travel to Illinois Chicago on Friday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader and to Michigan State on Sunday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
