Bio
Melissa McDonald received a dual-degree Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Social/Personality Psychology and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior. Following her graduate education, she completed a one-year postdoctoral research position at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel, working on psychological barriers to conflict resolution. Dr. McDonald joined the faculty of the Psychology Department at Oakland University in 2014 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. In 2020 she was also appointed by President Pescovitz to be Oakland University’s Faculty Athletic Representative and Chair of the Senate Intercollegiate Athletics Committee. In these roles, she serves as a liaison between the university and the athletics department and works collaboratively with athletics and university leaders to promote a positive experience for Oakland University Student-Athletes.
