John Lauinger joined Oakland University Athletics as the Coordinator of Athletic Annual Giving in 2025. A former Golden Grizzlies baseball student-athlete and team captain, Lauinger brings firsthand experience, leadership, and passion for supporting student-athletes to his role.
Lauinger earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oakland University, where he was a Robert Donald Scholarship recipient, Holly L. Lepley Scholar-Athlete Award winner, and Talented Scholar Award honoree. As captain of the baseball team, he led his teammates on and off the field, fostering communication, accountability, and a strong team culture. He also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Athletics DEI Council, helping shape initiatives to enhance the student-athlete experience and promote inclusivity.
In his current role, Lauinger works closely with donors, alumni, and supporters to strengthen annual giving initiatives that directly benefit Oakland’s student-athletes and athletic programs. His background in finance, combined with his leadership as a student-athlete, allows him to connect meaningfully with the Oakland community and drive the continued growth of Golden Grizzlies Athletics.
Outside of athletics, Lauinger has volunteered with organizations including OUCARES, Grace Centers of Hope, and the Salvation Army, reflecting his commitment to community service.
