Dr. Ronald D. Reeves was appointed Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Leadership and Engagement at Oakland University in the spring of 2025. A proud Detroit native with deep Michigan roots and a distinguished career in athletic administration, Dr. Reeves brings a powerful blend of leadership, innovation, and student-centered vision to the Golden Grizzlies.

Most recently, Dr. Reeves served as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Aquinas College, where he led the department through a period of meaningful growth and competitive excellence. His tenure included the addition of new athletic programs, STUNT and Division III Men’s Hockey, along with the creation of signature initiatives such as The Nelly’s, Aquinas’ annual end-of-year student-athlete awards show, and Blackout Cancer, a campaign supporting cancer care through University of Michigan Health-West.

Under his leadership, Aquinas athletics thrived, finishing in the top 10 of the NAIA Learfield Directors' Cup following the fall semester and securing postseason appearances across a wide range of sports: Women's and Men's Cross Country, Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Men’s Rugby, Women’s and Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field, Women’s and Men’s Swimming & Diving, and Dance.

Dr. Reeves has held key roles at several respected institutions including the University of Colorado, Florida A&M University, Southern Illinois University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, University of North Carolina, and Alabama A&M University. Beyond higher education, he has contributed his expertise to public service organizations such as the Internal Revenue Service, the Pentagon, the United States Air Force, and the City of Denver, adding depth and breadth to his leadership perspective.

A graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Dr. Reeves began his academic and athletic career at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications and competed in track and field. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Sports Management from Ithaca College, serving as a graduate assistant for the track and field program, and later earned a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Southern Illinois University.

Now residing in Sterling Heights, Michigan, Dr. Reeves is the proud father of Marisah, a student at Grand Valley State University. Outside of athletics, he is deeply committed to philanthropy, leadership development, and spending time with his family and his dog, Bailey. A lifelong fan of WWE and an avid traveler, Dr. Reeves brings energy, authenticity, and purpose to every aspect of his life and leadership.
