Coach Brown is entering his fourth season as Oakland University’s Women’s Tennis coach.

In his three seasons at Oakland, Brown has coached a Horizon League Freshman of the Year in each season. Under his leadership, the team produced at least one Horizon League First Team selection every year, and two players earned First Team honors during the 2025-26 season, marking a first for the program.

In the 2025-26 season, Oakland’s Martyna Piechowicz won the Horizon League singles tournament in the fall, and the team captured its first-ever Horizon League regular-season championship in the spring. Following the season, Brown was named Co-Coach of the Year, another first for the program.

Beyond his success at Oakland, Brown is a USTA High Performance certified coach, an RSPA Elite coach, and has been named USPTA Michigan Pro of the Year. He has coached more than 80 Division I college players, including Maya Joint (#39 WTA), Katie Rolls (University of Virginia), Gabby Sadowski (Boston University), Thara Gowda (#1 USTA National 18s), Evan Duggal (Furman University), and Gabe Brown (Boston University). He has also coached numerous Midwest and National Junior camps, and led SEM Cup teams to titles in the 12s, 14s, and 18s age groups. Brown regularly speaks at Michigan High Schools as well as USPTA Midwest conferences.

Brown played college tennis at Oakland University from 1989 to 1993, where he was a two-time first-team All-GLIAC selection.
