Cassie Buchholz joined the Oakland athletic communications staff in the summer of 2025. She is the primary contact for Men's Basketball, volleyball, baseball, cross country, indoor track and field, and Esports.
Buchholz comes to Rochester after two years at Western Kentucky, serving as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications working with the nationally-ranked WKU Volleyball and Softball programs.
In Bowling Green, Buchholz covered two NCAA Volleyball Tournament second-round berths, two undefeated conference seasons, three AVCA All-Americans, the first CSC Academic All-American team member since 2000, and an upset over No. 12 Marquette in 2023. With softball, Buchholz played a key part in promoting a brand new office/practice facility and promotion of the 2024 Conference USA Pitcher and Defensive Players of the Year.
From 2020-22, Buchholz was a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and was primary contact for women's soccer and swimming and diving, while assisting with all 15 varsity sports. With the Salukis, she created women's soccer's first media guide after their inaugural season as a program in 2019 and covered Celia Pulido - the first athlete to compete at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships for SIU in over 10 years.
The Lindenhurst, Ill. native is a member of CSC (College Sport Communicators), ASWM (Association of Women in Sport Media) and the National Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). She earned her bachelor's in Sport and Recreation Management from the University of Iowa in 2020 and her MS.Ed in Kinesiology - Sport Studies from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 2022.
