Biography

Former Oakland standout Katie Wolfe has just completed her fifth season on the women[apos]s basketball staff at OU, where as a player she became just the second player in Mid-Continent Conference history to receive first team all-league honors all four years of her career.

Wolfe serves as the team[apos]s recruiting coordinator, and also is involved in player development, scouting, and camps. Over her tenure at Oakland, both as a player and a coach, the Golden Grizzlies have won five championships; three during her playing days and two during her time as an assistant coach. OU has also made two WNIT appearances during Wolfe[apos]s tenure as an assistant coach.

After playing professionally in Denmark and Iceland a knee injury brought a halt to her playing career and brought her back to the U.S. where she accepted a position with the Golden Grizzlies.

Wolfe enjoyed a very successful career at Oakland, tallying 2,065 points to rank third on OU[apos]s all-time list. She also appears on 10 other career lists for Oakland, including ranking first in free throws made, amassing 509. The Cedar Springs, Mich. native additionally holds the all-time record for free throws in a game, sinking 17 against Niagara on Nov. 25, 2001.

Wolfe led the Golden Grizzlies to the NCAA Tournament in 2002 after claiming the program[apos]s first ever Mid-Con tournament title. She was named to the league[apos]s all-tournament team for her performance. One year prior, Wolfe was a Kodak All-America honorable mention selection as a sophomore and registered double figures in 28 of the team[apos]s 30 games that year.

After redshirting the 1998-99 season, Wolfe was named the Mid-Con[apos]s Newcomer and Freshman of the Year after starting all 29 games for OU while ranking second on the team and third in the conference with 17.3 points per game. For her career, Wolfe averaged 17.5 ppg to tie for fourth in Oakland[apos]s record book and rank fifth in conference history.
