Samantha Henderson joined the Oakland Softball staff in 2020.
In the 2022 season, Henderson was part of a historic Oakland program that tied for the third-most wins in school history in a single season (26) in addition to the Golden Grizzlies' first #HLSB Regular Season and #HLSBÂ Tournament title since the 2015 season. Oakland had a .378 slugging percentage, a collective .252 batting average, and 162 runs with the help of Henderson's offense. The Golden Grizzlies generated a Pitcher of the Year, three All-Horizon League First Team, one All-Horizon League Second Team, and an All-Freshman Team honor in 2022.
During 2021, Henderson worked primarily with catchers, infielders, and offense for the Golden Grizzlies which produced four First Team All-Horizon League honorees, one All-Horizon League Second Team accolade, and a second-place finish in the conference standings setting multiple single-season records.Â
As a player, Henderson was a four-year letter winner at Detroit Mercy where she was named team captain in the 2014-15 seasons in addition to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Academic-All American Honor from 2012-2015. From there, Henderson graduated in 2015 and headed straight to a Graduate Assistant Coach position while with the Titans. In that role, Henderson's responsibilities included coordinating practice sessions for different position groups, recruiting, team travel plans, academic oversight, and others.Â
The Titans were 2019 Horizon League Champions, earning the first-ever postseason berth in school history while Henderson was on staff with four All-Horizon League honorees, 31 wins (the most since 1991), and a Horizon League Staff of the Year recognition.Â
Henderson holds a Master's Degree from Detroit Mercy in Physician Assistant Studies.
