Gina Munson enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Oakland University softball program.
At Oakland, Munson's responsibilities will include defense development, recruiting, budgetary management, and travel.
Most recently, Munson spent the 2021 softball season as an assistant coach at Lawrence Tech in nearby Southfield, Mich. She mentored catcher Haley Mazon during her stay with the Blue Devils, who hit .370 and led the team in home runs (5) and runs batted in (23).
Before LTU, Munson served as an assistant at her alma mater, Warren Regina High School. The softball team reached the Final Four in 2018 and won the Division I state championship the following season.
Munson has also provided lessons and ran clinics at organizations such as Premier Softball and Turnin2 Softball.
Prior to a career in coaching, Munson was a member of the Central Michigan softball program from 2015-2017. Splitting time as an infielder and catcher, she helped the Chippewas to a Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship in 2017.
