Kevin Garner

Kevin Garner joined the Oakland men’s soccer coaching staff during the 2021 season as an assistant coach.

Garner comes to Oakland with over 17 years of coaching experience and currently serves as the Director of Coaching for Liverpool International Academy in Michigan. Garner oversees the coaching staff and coach education for each of the club’s current locations. During his years in club coaching, Garner has been involved in the development of players that have represented the National Team and has guided many players into collegiate athletics.
 
Garner also was the former Head Coach of Rochester University where he led the Warriors to one of their most successful seasons in program history finishing with a 13-2-2 record to earn a berth into the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) National Tournament.
 
Garner holds many sports and coaching-related qualifications including a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science, BBA in Business and Sports Management, USSF ‘A’ Coaching license, NSCAA Premier Diploma, and numerous English FA special topics certificates.
 
Prior to his move to the United States, Garner played for Crewe Alexandra F.C and represented Newcastle-under-Lyme, as well as North Lincolnshire College in the British Colleges and Universities League.
 
Garner was a three-time All-American at Rochester University and team captain during his junior and senior year majoring in Sports Management. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 2004.
 
Garner lives in Clinton Township with his wife Leah and their three sons, Liam, Joey and Matty.
