Nicholas Yurik has been member of the OU athletics
event staff since 1991. Yurik and a bright yellow event staff jacket are as commonplace at

diving and men's and women's basketball events throughout the year.
Throughout the nine years of service, Yurik moved to
Michigan and worked for the City of Detroit for 30 years prior to his retirement.
An interest in athletics isn't something new for
Yurik. He played on the Wheeling, West Virginia YMCA College basketball team for four
years. On the baseball diamond, Yurik was a little league manager for four years and had
two of his teams claim the championship title. He also managed the senior league baseball
squad for two years.
Yurik also played softball and as a member of the Hannan
Branch YMCA, Yurik's team won the City of Detroit softball championship. Yurik also
enjoys, golfing, with two career holes-in-one, and has a 180 average in his bowling
league.
Yurik and his wife Rosemary have one daughter Dr. Anne
Pillow (Dr. Dan Pillow) and one son Glenn Yurik (Dawn) and are the proud grandparents of
Brent (8) and Gabrielle (4) Yurik.
In recognition of his long friendship and support of
Oakland University and its athletic programs, the Intercollegiate Athletic Department
