Sam Lucido has been Chief of Police at Oakland University for the past 10 years. Chief Lucido has ensured the safety of Oakland students and continues to keep athletic events safe on campus.
Chief Lucido is concluding his distinguished career in law enforcement at the end of 2013. He was named Outstanding Administrative Professional of the Year in 2010. He joined the OUPD in 2002 and has helped modernize operations through the implementation of more than a dozen public safety education programs and grants.
Chief Lucido helped implement the addition of emergency text messaging, installation of outdoor loudspeaker systems and the development of a comprehensive emergency preparedness website to the OU Emergency Response Plan.
Prior to coming to Oakland, Lucido served as the Chief of Police for Northfield Township (1998-2002) and was a professor of criminal justice at Madonna University for two years (1996-98). Chief Lucido also worked for the Detroit Police Department from 1972-96, retiring at the rank of police inspector. He graduated with a degree in police administration from Wayne State in 1974 and earned his master's degree in criminal justice from WSU in 1982.
