Looking at the career of Harvey Rodge, it is no
surprise that he has involved himself so heavily in Oakland athletics.
Rodge has served as a member of the Golden Grizzlies event
staff since 1992 and has been a loyal supporter of all Oakland's 14 athletics
programs. He, along with co-honoree Nick Yurik, works all men's and women's
soccer, volleyball, men's and women's swimming and diving and men's and
women's basketball events throughout the year.
Rodge earned his basic engineering degree from
Providence College, his bachelor's in engineering from Berea College (Kentucky) and a
master's of business administration from the University of Detroit.
At Berea College, Rodge earned varsity letters in
basketball, baseball, track, tennis and swimming. In recent years, he has received
numerous medals in local, state, and national Senior Olympic Games (1989-1999). He is
currently a member of the Michigan &0's volleyball team that took the gold medal in
the national Senior Olympics in Tucson, Arizona in 1997, and local senior softball and
volleyball leagues.
His involvement in the community was also recognized when
Rodge was presented with the Oakland County 4H Fair Association 30 Years of Service Award.
In addition to his 4H work and his work at OU, Rodge volunteers 8-10 hours per-week for
the Adams High School physical education department and teaches phys-ed.
Rodge and his wife Audrey, parents of four children...Mark,
Joyce (Rott), Nancy (Gauthier) and Kevin, currently reside in Oakland.
In recognition of his long friendship and support of
Oakland University and its athletic programs, the Intercollegiate Athletic Department
proudly extends this ward for Community Service to Harvey G. Rodge. |
