Dr. Virinder K. Moudgil has been involved with the Oakland University athletics program for many years while serving in various positions on the staff at OU. His support of the athletic program has provided many benefits for its student-athletes. Recently he played an integral role in the development of the Grizzly Center for Graduates and Champions, Oakland's new student-athlete academic center. Not only has Dr. Moudgil provided many hours of support to athletics from an administrative perspective, he is also one of its biggest fans and can regularly be seen at athletics events.

Dr. Moudgil joined the faculty of Oakland University in 1976 as an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences after receiving his master's degree and doctorate from Banaras University in India. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; and has served as a visiting scientist at institutions in Paris and Belgrade. While at Oakland, Dr. Moudgil was promoted to full Professor and was named the chair of the Department of Biological Sciences in 1994. In July 2001, he was appointed to his current position as the University's Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

Dr. Moudgil is a member of professional societies including the American Association for Advancement of Science, American Association for Cancer Research, American Association of University Professors, American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, American Society for Cell Biology, the Endocrine Society, Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility, and Sigma Xi. He also has been an Honorary Member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, the National Geographic Society and People to People International.
