Oakland University's version of the world famous Gus Macker Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament has become a huge success. One of the big reasons for that is the work of Bill Marshall, whose service to the Gus Macker Tournament committee has earned him the George Wibby Award.

Now in his 25th year at Oakland University, Bill has been involved with the Gus Macker tournament since its inception. As the main liaison between the athletic department and the university community, Bill has been instrumental in taking care of all the details involved with the preparation and running of the tournament. He has worked side-by-side with women's basketball coach Bob Taylor, helping make the tournament a successful fundraiser as well as an outstanding public relations tool for the athletic department and the university as a whole.

Bill has been an OU employee since 1967. In January of 1970 he was named to his present post as Director of the Oakland Center. A native of St. Charles, Illinois, Bill has served on dozens of OU committees and was a founder and charter officer of the AP Association and AP Assembly.

Bill and his wife, Phyllis, live in Rochester Hills. They have two children.
