John Huntington is a Rochester area and Oakland University mainstay.
As an important and vigorous leader, Johns community activities include both his own participation as well as philanthropic efforts advocating community programs which have touched countless lives. John's special interest in youth and sports are evident and are all part of the enjoyment and fulfillment he gets from his participation.
A member of Rochester Rotary since 1984, John has served as a member of the Board of Rochester Rotary charities and participated as corporate leader supporting local Boys and Girls Clubs in the area. John Huntington's involvement and support of Oakland University and its athletic program has been evident almost from the day he purchased his business. John's interests have been primarily in support of Oakland's nationally prominent soccer program and recently he became a "charter" participant in Oakland Baseball's "Green Monster" outfield fence project.
In 1980 John purchased what is now known as Huntington Ford and began a successful business and community service career that has spanned almost twenty years. Subsequently and through his efforts, Huntington Ford has grown, prospered and is now recognized as one of the premier dealerships in the metropolitan Detroit area. John has been active with the Detroit Auto Dealers Association and has served as president of the Metro Detroit Ford Dealers in 1991 and 1992.
In recognition of his long friendship and support of Oakland University and the university's athletic programs, the Intercollegiate Athletic Department proudly extends this award for the Community Service to John Huntington.
