Bruce Bordine has supported the intercollegiate athletic program at Oakland University for many years. He has always been most generous, both financially and in service. Recently, Bruce chaired the Lance Parrish Roast Committee, which raised a significant amount of money in support of the men's basketball program. The Lance Parrish Roast was one of the projects of the Community Athletic Committee, an organization in which Bruce is very active.
Bruce has supported the development of the Oakland University basketball program in several other ways, the most notable being the sponsorship of the million dollar shot held several years ago. He takes an active interest in other sports, including swimming, and as a President's Club member has supported the entire athletic program. Bruce is also an avid fan; and serves on several related university-related committees, including the Apple Amble. In addition, he was one of the original sponsors of the Hall of Honor.
Bruce's children, Kim, Calvin, Corey and Karl, have also shown an active interest in university programs-especially Calvin, who was a lifeguard this past summer.
Bruce's philanthropic and community service efforts go far beyond Oakland University: He was recently elected president of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and selected to receive a 1986 Distinguished Service Award from Michigan State University. Whether it be the Christmas parade, a bus trip to the University of Detroit for a basketball game or flowers on staff members' desks, Bruce and his company, Bordine's Better blooms, are always very much in attendance.
Bruce Bordine, we take pleasure in honoring you in this way and say thankyou for your friendship.
