Jean-Léger Scores as Oakland Plays to 1-1 Tie at Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Oakland tied with Robert Morris 1-1 on Saturday at North Athletic Complex. The Golden Grizzlies pushed late with the match tied, generating eight attacking chances between the 76th to 88th minutes, but couldn't break through as both teams went scoreless in the second half.

Oakland finished with a 14-8 shot advantage and put five attempts on goal while RMU put one on frame. Oakland's 14 shots and five shots on goal both exceeded their season averages.

Oakland generated offense right out the gate with chances in the 13th minute and the 15th, as Miller Knestrict forced a save from Josh Lane, Edouard Haineault added two shots and Oakland earned three corner kicks. RMU broke through on Anelson Azard's goal at 35:10 as the Colonials took a 1-0 first-half lead.

Oakland quickly responded with Christopher Jean-Leger scoring at 40:17 off assists from Cal Kurzawa and Kinan Abdulrazzak to even the match at 1-1.

Oakland dominated the pace of the match in the second half, piling up seven shots and a corner from the 76th through 89th minutes while the match remained 1-1.

Julian Kanzler had Oakland's first shot of the half, and Kurzawa forced Josh Lane into a save in the 65th minute before testing him again at 76:14. Oakland kept pressing after RMU committed a series of late fouls, with Tyler Marsden putting a shot on frame in the 85th minute and Jean Leger and Jayden Pinheiro adding attempts in the closing stretch. RMU nearly answered in the final minute when Riley Cotton hit the left woodwork, but the scoreless half closed with the teams tied 1-1.

Jean-Leger scored Oakland's goal and led the team with four shots, putting one on frame. Kurzawa recorded an assist and put both of his shots on goal. Kinan Abdulrazzak added an assist.

Up next, the Golden Grizzlies host IU Indy on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. at Oakland Soccer Field in Rochester, Michigan.
