KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Head coach Paul Rice and the Oakland Cross Country teams competed at the George Dales Invitational Friday, with the Golden Grizzlies placing seventh on the men's side and ninth in the women's race.
The Oakland men totaled 144 points to finish seventh, led by freshman Brody Karg, who placed fourth overall with a time of 24:51.7. Freshman Gabe Litzner followed in 31st at 26:00.0, while freshman Max Houvener (37th, 26:16.5), freshman David Dubeck (42nd, 26:22.3) and junior Collin Farmer (43rd, 26:26.3) rounded out Oakland's scoring five.
The Golden Grizzly women recorded 200 points for ninth place, paced by sophomore Eliza Bush, who finished eighth overall in 21:20.2. Fifth-year Makenna Scott placed 42nd at 22:31.5, followed by sophomore Sophy Skeels (49th, 22:42.9), sophomore Courtney Bovair (52nd, 22:46.0) and fifth-year Amy Rowan (53rd, 22:46.7).
The Black and Gold are back to running after a weekend off, as they will head to South Bend to compete in the prestigious Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Oct. 2.
