ROCHESTER, Mich. — Sophomore Eliza Bush earned her second title at the annual Golden Grizzlies Open as Oakland Cross Country opened with a strong showing at their home meet to start the 2026 season.
Sophomore Eliza Bush led the Golden Grizzlies women, winning the race with a time of 18:36.6. Oakland runners swept the top five spots with a total of 15 points, with fifth-year Makenna Scott finishing second in 18:54.3, senior Genavieve Kushner-Lopez third in 18:55.6, sophomore Sophy Skeels fourth in 19:05.0 and sophomore Ava Alicandro fifth in 19:10.6.
On the men's side, freshman Brod Karg paced Oakland with a second-place finish, crossing the line in 15:27.4. Junior Collin Farmer followed in fifth at 15:53.7, with Gabe Litzner sixth at 15:53.9 and Moises Salazar Jr. seventh at 15:54.6. Junior Bryce Nowik rounded out Oakland's top five in eighth with a time of 16:00.3.
The Golden Grizzlies are back on the course next Friday, Sept. 18, as they head to Kalamazoo for the Western Michigan Invitational.
