ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland Track & Field team hits the road for its final tune-up of the regular season, splitting the squad between two meets this weekend. The Golden Grizzlies will compete at the Louisville Clark Wood Open and the Grand Valley State Extra Meet, both taking place April 24-25.
Oakland will send a select group of student-athletes to Louisville, including
Kylei Anderson,
Lauren Goodman,
Ja-Van Poole, and
Evan Bryan, as they look to post competitive marks against a strong field. Meanwhile, the majority of the roster will travel to Allendale for the Grand Valley State Extra Meet, providing another opportunity for the team to continue building momentum across a full slate of events.
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a highly successful showing at last week's Elaine Leigh Invite, where the team recorded 42 personal-best performances. Among the highlights, freshman
Eliza Bush set a new program freshman record in the 1500m with a time of 4:37.66, while
Jamie Giese delivered a historic performance in the shot put with a mark of 14.59m, the best in program history.
With one final weekend of competition before championship season, Oakland will look to carry that momentum forward and continue sharpening performances across the board. The meets serve as the last opportunity for athletes to fine-tune their results ahead of the Horizon League Championships, which Oakland will host May 8–10.
As the postseason approaches, the Golden Grizzlies aim to build on their recent success and position themselves for a strong showing on their home track.
