REDLANDS, Calif. & IRVINE, Calif. – The Golden Grizzlies snapped their winless streak, defeating the University of Redlands before falling to UC Irvine on the team's annual spring break trip.

AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
Oakland (3-7) opened its midweek matches with a 5-2 win over Redlands (3-3) at the Verdieck Tennis Center on Tuesday night. The Golden Grizzlies jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after securing wins on both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts. Juniors Edie Hammond and Emilia Jarvinen cruised to a 6-2 victory, while sophomore Nisa Bulut and freshman Oliwia Klimas notched their first doubles win of the season, 6-3.

In singles play, the Bulldogs earned two wins in the first three matches, evening the score at 2-2. Oakland, however, claimed the final three to lock up the team victory. Hammond secured the first singles point with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 performance, followed by Bulut's 7-6, 6-4 win. Klimas (5-7, 6-2, 6-2) and Jarvinen (7-6, 3-6, 6-2) went into a third set, but each took control in the decider to seal their matches and give Oakland the win over Redlands for the second straight year.

AGAINST THE ANTEATERS
Facing a hot UC Irvine (7-4) squad, Oakland was swept by the Anteaters, 7-0, on Wednesday as UCI extended its longest winning streak since the 2018-19 season. The Golden Grizzlies battled throughout, pushing multiple sets to extra points. At No. 4 singles, Hammond forced a first-set tiebreak before falling to UC Irvine's Pitchford, 7-6(2), 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Jarvinen mounted a push in the second set in an effort to force a third against the Anteaters' M. Huynh, ultimately dropping a 6-2, 7-5 decision. 

Oakland's results mirrored last season's California trip against the same two opponents, matching each outcome. As they head into Horizon League play with one final non-conference match remaining, the Golden Grizzlies look to prove why they were picked No. 1 in the league's preseason poll.
