ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Horizon League announced their #HLMSOC Players of the Week on Monday, naming Oakland forward Christopher Jean-Léger as this week's Offensive Player of the Week.
The freshman from Montreal is the first Oakland player this season to earn the weekly award, coming after he made an emphatic statement in Oakland's 2-2 tie to no. 25 Michigan on Friday, Sept. 5. In his first ever home game, he netted two goals in the final 10 minutes of play to help Oakland earn their second tie against a top-25 team in the nation this season.
Along with his late-game heroics, he also led all players in the game with three shots, two on goal. He ties with
Marco Mazzei for the team lead in goals this season (2) and leads the squad in shots on goal (5), both marks ranking in the top ten in the league as well.
Jean-Léger becomes one of just four Horizon League players to notch a multi-goal game so far this season, and one of just two freshmen to do so.
He helps lead the Golden Grizzlies into East Lansing in search of their first win this season on Monday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
