ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies dropped their second straight match, falling 0-3 at the hands of Ohio University after a pair of late game goals.
The first half saw Oakland's
Mallory Anderson actively seeking opportunities with two shots, both narrowly missing the target. Despite Oakland's efforts, the Bobcats struck first on a chance with Scout Murray scoring in the 41st minute to give them a 1-0 lead. The half would hold that score for its remainder, with a very even game being played, as Oakland slightly led 60% to 40% in the possession battle.
The second half saw a defensive start with
Maryn Weiger making a crucial save from an Allison Hooks shot. Oakland's defense held strong until Ohio's Sania Dearing broke through with a pair of goals, one in the 76th and another in the 79th minute, bringing the score to 3-0. Despite a late corner opportunity for Oakland in the 90th minute, the home team was unable to capitalize, ending the half without a score.
Anderson led the Golden Grizzlies with two shots, in a game where Oakland just struggled to find quality looks at the net, and Ohio put four shots on goal themselves.
In their next game, the Golden Grizzlies travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on the University of Notre Dame on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.
